JAMBO FROM KENYA!!!!!

Wow! I don't even know where to begin! Our week in Kenya has been more of blessing than words could articulate. I'll start with what's on my heart...

The people in Kenya are SUCH a genuine people, filled with indescribable compassion and love. They worship and praise Jesus with purity and live their lives clear from unneccessary distractions and unGodly concerns. Wow! It's been a beautiful testimony and inspiring story to watch!

We've done a lot this week: 3 days of door-to-door evangalism in both Mnarani and Bofa. We've all had beautiful experiences whether it be through prayer for sick, inspiration for believers, opening hearts of nonbelievers, prophecy and conformation of God's spoken words, or ourselves being blessed and inspired by the Kenyan people. They are such a welcoming and joyful peole it's infectious to be around! Our hearts have truly been warmed! We've suffered a little sickness within the team but God is moving and curing our illnesses. Also, we've been working at Oasis Baptist Church in Mnarani helping paint their entrance sign and pillars. Hardwork uplifts you into diligently loving Jesus!

Today is our sabbath! It's been great!! Aren't we so lucky to have a God so great that He gives us a day of rest once a week? YES!

I know everyone loves and misses their family and are all thankful for the love and support back home. As we work for Christ, know your presence is felt and your love received. We do all things in thankfulness for the support you've provided for all the years leading up to this beautiful adventure and necessary mission.

To my family: I LOVE Y'ALL!!! I miss y'all so much!! I am curious if Priscilla has had BP? Jess and Jate...so glad wedding planning is so going great! Your e-mail made me giggle! ;) Mom-pretty much everyone speaks some English and they are so welcoming in hosting us in their country! Dad and Bets-fine, didn't want to hear from ya'll either!!! ;) just kidding!! Friends-miss y'all and hope y'all are having fun in Lubbock! Community-praying for y'all and thinking of you often!

Kwahere!!

Jambo from Kenya!

Friends and family,

Jambo! Today was our first day in Kenya after 36+ hours of traveling. Our flight from London landed in Nairobi, Kenya early this morning, and we hoped on the next plane to Mombasa. Our host, Ezekiel, met us at the airport and drove us to the town of Kilifi, where we are staying. We all got settled in and ate lunch.

Exhaustion is setting in on me personally and the team in general. We've been on planes and in airports for the past 2 days, everyone's feet are swollen, and it's only early afternoon! Our first day will be spent resting and bonding as a team. We are all so excited to see what God has planed for each of us and cannot wait to start our 3 week journey tomorrow.

Mom and Dad- I love you both so much and cannot thank each of you enough for all you've done to support me. Without y'alls help, I would not be here now. I miss both of you and I'm excited to see you both soon!

Chris- I love you and miss you tons!

God is good and is doing great things for us here in Kenya!

The Greatest of These Is Love

As we are sitting in the London Heathrow Airport, I can't help but be reminded of the original twelve disciples. They traveled by foot, pairs of two, and it makes me wonder what they talked about as they walked to pass the time. They certainly didn't have planes, books, card games, internet, laptops, and movies. I imagine that they loved each other deeply, and definitely shared the same sense of community as we are right now. It truly overjoys my heart to see our team laughing at silly card games, sharing our nervousness, excitement, and truly loving each other. Love: it is the absolute truth in everything we do. The reason we share the gospel is because we know of God's love for us and can't help but share it with others! God first loved us, this is how we are able to love others. God loved the world so much He sent His Son for the absolute true sacrifice for our sins. I think too easily we pass over that. "Yea, yea Jesus died for me. I have heard it all my life. I know what He did." Where is the excitement? Where is the joy in the freedom that comes with that? The people that are dying today for their belief in Him definitely see that in a much different light! It is the one thing the hold onto the most! He died a horrific and humiliating death for YOU! God came down, in the form of man, and died for YOU! Because HE LOVED YOU! I don't want to take that for granted anymore! I want that to be the one thing I jump up and down, sing, dance, and praise God for every day of my life.

If there is anything I want to be know for in life, it is that I loved others well, no mater what nation, creed, color, or beliefs. The essence of this comes from 1 Corinthians 13:

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

The greatest of these is LOVE! I love my team. I love the gifts I have been given, and this opportunity that God has given me to lead my team to Kenya! I love that I have been called to international missions for the rest of my life. I love my Savior, and I truly am so joyful that I can't help but share the Gospel. I can't wait to see what He has in store.

Peace and Blessings,

Here I am, send me!

Hello everyone!!

We begin our journey to Kenya, Africa today and we are anxiously waiting the long plane rides.  We have prepared for this trip all semester and excited to see how God is going to move in the nation of Kenya.  We are going to be updating this blog as much as possible while on our trip so we can share what the Lord is doing.  We ask that you all be in prayer for our safety as we travel.  Also, join us in praying for the people in Kenya, that their hearts may be prepared and open to the Good News that we will be sharing!

We are in Dallas today staying with a team member's family.  We had a good breakfast and enjoyed sharing in excitement for the trip we are about to take.  For the rest of the day we are going to overview some of the material we have prepared for the children in Kenya.  We are also making our last run to Walmart for those last minute necessities.  Our flight leaves this evening at 9:05 and we are headed to London.  From London we will fly to Nairobi, and then to Mombasa.  In Mombasa our host will pick us up and we will drive in a matatu to our destination!

Thank you all for your support and prayers!
